Celebrant FAQs – Everything You Need to Know About Personalised Ceremonies
Why use Roop?
Are you a fun celebrant?
Absolutely. In my company, Doub7e Seven Events, I have been providing entertainment for all type of events for over 20 years. Using that experience allows me to create personalised scripts that will have your guests' sides splitting. I can include your guests as part of the ceremony, or even bring in other performers as part of the ceremony. Imagine a ceremony that includes a close-up magician, a celebrity lookalike, dancers or jugglers.
Can you provide more than just the ceremony?
Yes! One of the things that makes 77 Events unique is that I can offer much more than a celebrant service by combining Doub7e Seven's extensive portfolio of entertainment services with my celebrant services.. As well as creating and conducting your ceremony, I can also provide close-up magic, DJ entertainment, master of ceremonies services and help coordinate your special day. By combining multiple services with one experienced professional, you can enjoy a seamless experience from ceremony through to celebration.
Are you a destination celebrant?
Yes. I will travel anywhere to create and conduct bespoke, non-statutory wedding or commitment ceremonies, or any other kind of ceremony. I am completely flexibility with locations, personalized scripts, and symbolic rituals without local venue licensing or religious constraints.
Why should we use you?
I have over 20 years' experience supplying events for customers. You will get more than just a celebration. You will get an event which I will treat like any other event I don't just turn up on the day. I will check the venue, contact the venue just before your day to ensure everything is in place, and I will even recommend location angles for your photographer to get the best shots. Nothing is left to chance. By using Roop, you get a full event service and value for your money.

About Celebrants
What is a Celebrant?
A celebrant is a trained professional who creates and leads personalised ceremonies to celebrate life's most important moments. Unlike a registrar, a celebrant can design a ceremony around your personalities, beliefs and values, giving you complete freedom over the words, music, readings and location. Whether you're planning a wedding, naming ceremony or vow renewal, a celebrant helps create a truly memorable occasion.
What does a celebrant do?
A celebrant works with you to create a unique ceremony that reflects your story and your wishes. They'll spend time getting to know you, write a bespoke script, offer guidance throughout the planning process and conduct your ceremony on the day. The result is a meaningful celebration that's completely personal to you.
What's the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?
A registrar conducts the legal part of a marriage and must follow prescribed wording in a licensed venue. A celebrant has much greater flexibility, creating a personalised ceremony that can take place almost anywhere. Many couples choose to complete the legal paperwork with a registrar separately, allowing their celebrant-led ceremony to become the true celebration with family and friends.
What's the difference between a celebrant and a minister?
A minister conducts religious ceremonies based on the beliefs and traditions of their faith. A celebrant offers far greater flexibility and can create ceremonies that are non-religious, spiritual, or include selected religious or cultural elements if you wish. The ceremony is tailored entirely around your preferences.
Can a celebrant legally marry us in England?
In England, a celebrant cannot currently perform the legal marriage itself. Most couples simply complete the legal formalities with a registrar before or after their celebrant-led ceremony. This gives you complete freedom to enjoy a personalised celebration without the restrictions of a standard civil ceremony.
Why choose a celebrant?
Choosing a celebrant gives you the freedom to create a ceremony that's truly your own. You're not restricted by standard wording or licensed venues, so your ceremony can include personal stories, favourite music, meaningful readings, family traditions and special moments that reflect who you are as a couple. It's your day, your way.
What ceremonies can a celebrant conduct?
Celebrants can conduct a wide range of ceremonies, including weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, commitment ceremonies and celebrations marking important life milestones. Each ceremony is individually written to reflect the people involved, making every occasion unique.

Planning Your Ceremony
Can our ceremony be completely personalised?
Absolutely. Every ceremony is written from scratch and tailored to you. You can include your own vows, favourite music, readings, cultural traditions, symbolic rituals and contributions from family and friends. Whether you want something romantic, light-hearted, formal or fun, your ceremony can be as unique as your story.
Can children be included in the ceremony?
Yes. Imagine your son or daughter giving a reading, telling a story or even singing a song as part of the ceremony.. I recently officiated a wedding where the couple had a baby in their arms.
Can family and friends take part in the ceremony?
Yes. You may want them to do a reading, sing or even make an off-the-cuff speech as part of the ceremony. As part of a wedding celebration, you could have the best-man and father of the bride make speeches in a similar way to a traditional wedding.
Can pets be included in the ceremony?
Pets are often regarded as part of the family so, yes, they can be included. You could walk down the isle with your dog, for example.
Do our cultures, faiths or religions affect whether you can officiate the ceremony?
Do you officiate LGBTQ+ weddings?

Booking
How much do you charge?
My prices start at £300 but each individual ceremony I perform is bespoke. So, the cost will vary based on what you want included in the ceremony such as entertainment. Entertainment might include, for example, a close-up magician, a DJ or even a band. Travel distance will also be included in the cost.
How far in advance should we book?
I don't specify a time. For example, I recently booked a bespoke wedding ceremony for a couple from the US at a week's notice. Obviously, if you require a complex ceremony with various types of entertainment, the lead time would be longer. The best thing to do is contact me, discuss your requirements and I'll do everything I can to meet them.
Can we meet before booking?
Yes. It's very important that I meet you either in-person or via video (Zoom or Teams). This allows us, not just to plan the ceremony, but it allows me to get a feel for your personality to help me create the best, personalised ceremony for you.
How long does a ceremony usually last?
As long as is necessary to fulfil your requirements.
How far will you travel?
I will travel anywhere. But of course, my travel expenses will be included in my cost.

On the Day
What happens if it rains during an outdoor ?
We will discuss this during our planning for the event and agree a contingency in case of bad weather. It could be for example, that we have a gazebo. Or, if the venue is in a hotel garden, we agree with the management to move the event indoors.
What happens if someone is ill on the day?
You clearly don't want to ruin your big day so I don't want you to feel pressured to go ahead if you're not feeling well. In the unlikely event that happens then we can reschedule for another day. We will discuss this during our planning for the event and agree a contingency in case of bad weather.
